so tell us about yourself
my name is cole ray thomasson and i'm twenty-two. i have asperger's syndrome and it's hard for me to meet new people. i also run into things a lot because of it. i'm from the united kingdom and i don't know if i like the big city, but i do like mcoa. i play the piano and i have been for the last twenty years. i can even play better than most of the teachers here. i really like playing the piano. i don't like talking about myself because i like short sentences. people think i'm weird and don't talk to me.
how has your condition affected your life?
i don't have any friends. i used to have one but he died. now i have no one so i just play the piano a lot. i like playing the piano. my condition has not affected my skills. i'm very good.
why piano?
my mother says when i was a baby i had a toy piano that was my favorite. i spent a lot of time with it. i taught myself. my mum says i even composed my own songs. i spent more time with my piano then i did with people when i was young. my parents then became concerned when my speech skills were lacking.i was diagnosed with asperger's not long after but my parents were told the piano would benefit me. i feel like a real person when i'm playing.
do you have any other interests?
no. i love the piano. sometimes i wish i had a friend though. i used to have one and his hame was jay. he didn't have asperger's. he was normal. he liked me and he made me feel normal too. jay died, though. he was in a car accident. i didn't have anymore friends then. so i kept playing the piano. then it was time for me to go to university but i didn't want to give up the piano. my parents told me to come here so i did.
what are your goals for the next year?
make some new friends like jay. i bet they'd make me feel normal. i would also like to put on a very big concert. i would write the music myself and perform it. it would be very fun.

note: this may look like a poorly written application, but cole's syndrome causes him to speak in very short sentences unless he's very comfortable with someone.
