so tell us about yourself
well, i grew up in st. louis, missouri with my dad and my older sister. my mom left when i was six years old, and to this day i still don’t know why. i can’t say i care, and the last thing i want to do is upset my dad by asking him. i definitely wasn’t spoiled by any means. i mean, we had money, and i never hurt for anything, but it wasn’t like we got everything we wanted either. it wasn’t until i was a freshman that i started singing. it’s actually a horrible story. there was this guy who lived next door to us, and he was in choir. so, of course, when is started high school i joined choir just so i could get close to him or something. it didn’t work, but i did discover a love of singing that never went away and now here i am. it definitely wasn’t the last bad decision i made because of a guy, but in the end i think it worked out quite well.
what is your favorite childhood memory?
my seventh birthday party. it was right after my mother left, and daddy was still trying to do whatever he could to prove to himself that he could raise two little girls all on his own. he decided he wanted to give me the best party ever. at first he wanted to take us to disney world, but that ended up falling through. even so, it ended up being a really awesome party. it was a disney princess theme, of course - i was obsessed at the time - and it was the most fun i think i’ve ever had at a birthday party. he even paid the girls who lived next door to dress up as princesses and let me and my friends take pictures with them.
what is your biggest fear?
that i’ll disappoint my dad. i know what you’re thinking, and yes, i am aware of how cliche that answer is, but it’s the truth. i’ve always been a daddy’s girl, and i would hate to do anything to disappoint him. all he’s ever done is try to make sure i have the best life possible, especially after my mother left. i would hate myself if i ever did anything to make him think i didn’t appreciate everything he’s done for me and my sister.
what would your dream date be like?
i prefer very low key dates, actually. something fun and intimate. my ex-boyfriend once took me to his parents’ home, and we spent the night cuddled up on a blanket in the bed of his truck, star gazing. that was a lot of fun. actually, i think i’ll have to go with that. it was one of the best times i’ve ever had with anyone outside of my family. just don’t tell him i said that, okay?.
what do you like to do in your spare time?
i’ll let you in on a little secret: i’m actually a really boring person. i spend so much of my time trying to prove that i can stand out from a crowd and that i am talented that when i do get free time - which is rare - i really don’t feel like doing much of anything. most of the time i’ll call my sister and see if she wants to get something to eat. i might go for a run or read a book. most of the time i just prefer to relax when i have any spare time at all. god, i really am boring....
