so tell us about yourself
hey, my name's sawyer parks and i'm twenty-five years old, officially making me the oldest student at mcoa, which is an honor i will officially pride myself on until i graduate. i'm from brooklyn and it's where i spend most of my time when i'm not in class. i'm not a big fun of all the stupidly rich kids that come here and the less time i get to spend with them, the better. i'm really only at mcoa for the experience. studying here isn't going to make me a better actor than others who have never had formal training. it's all natural talent anyway.
what would you be doing if you weren't studying here?
drawing, definitely. it's what i do in my spare time (and also my not-so-spare time). i like drawing characters and scenery and architecture. just anything really. i usually have a sketch book with me at all times. i find it much more relaxing than acting, and it's another thing i'm good at. i don't really care if i never get any acting jobs after graduating; as long as i can still draw, life will be all right.
why mcoa?
like i said, for the experience. or just to say i came here. not because i really wanted to, but because i could. also, mcoa gave me a full ride and that's not something i can turn down. they saw something in me, which is cool, and who am i to say no to free money? who knows, maybe it'll help me later on down the road, but for now i'm pretty indifferent about being here.
what's your life motto?
mind if i quote leo dicaprio's character in titanic? no? okay. my life motto is to make each day count. my dad died when i was pretty young and that's when i realized that life is short and i didn't want to miss anything. that's why i started mcoa after most of the other students. i was too busy living. in that time i traveled around europe and took in the culture and loved every second of. if things don't work out in the future, at least i can look back on my life and realize that i've lived a pretty good one. i guess this motto also effects my personality. i am literally the most un-serious person in the world. all i want to do is have fun and i don't see anything wrong with that.
care to explain more about your sexuality?
um, there's not really much to explain than to say i like who i like, no matter their gender. i don't really like to label it because a label seems so permanent, so i guess i'm not really 'bisexual'. i'm anyone-sexual.
