although audrey had only been back to school for a few days, a break was already in order. senior year started with more than a bang and the pile on her desk kept growing as the days went on. she had been on a train back to brooklyn early saturday morning when she heard the girls who sat next to her speak of how they had spent the previous day drinking in every neighbourhood in manhattan. not only was audrey automatically jealous that these girls were not in school and could do such a thing on a friday, but the idea resonated in her mind. that was also why she found herself on the doorstep of sawyer parks instead of her parent's house. she knew (or at least hoped) that he was in the same situation as her with school and would need this distraction. not to mention that he would probably love the idea more than she did. once she had gotten sawyer down from his apartment, things went quickly. he, as she had figured, quickly fell in love with her idea (which she didn't mention she heard on the train), and practically pulled her back to the closest train back to the city. getting off at the first stop in the city, audrey guided the two along the lower east side to the first restaurant she could find that would serve alcohol this early in the morning.

though it sounded great at the time, sawyer couldn't believe audrey had talked him into a day of drinking their way across manhattan. he hated manhattan, from the people talking too loudly on their cell phones in public to all of the private town cars he saw on the streets. he avoided manhattan as much as he could, save for school, yet here he found himself, sitting in a restaurant very early in the morning, drinking a bloody mary. "i still can't believe you talked me into this," he said for the hundredth time since they got off the subway. "this is stupid," he added, just to show his frustration, though he really wasn't mad. sawyer had agreed almost instantly to go on this outing with her. he looked at the other tables and the people sitting at them who couldn't seem to take their eyes off of sawyer and audrey. true, they looked a little out of place, but the way they were being stared at was like they'd just landed on earth from another galaxy entirely. sawyer turned back to audrey before speaking. "let's make sure the next place we go to doesn't have a dress code that's so....stick up the ass," he said, looking down at his flanel shirt, ripped blue jeans, and toms before looking back at the other diners in their business suits and day dresses.

if audrey were to say she didn't mind the looks they were getting in the restaurant she would be lying. as much as she would of liked to be used to the way people looked down on her, she really wasn't sure that she would ever like it, she could only grow used to it. though at the moment audrey didn't want to show any sign of discomfort; she had known that sawyer would be up for the drinking, it was the being in manhattan part she had to keep him sold on. "how was i supposed to know this place had a dress code? we're still below the alphabet city." she asked, taking a sip of her vodka cran. she blamed wall street for being so close, yes, that seemed reason enough for all the suits around them. "but i'm with you on the next place," audrey agreed, although she was sure the day would only get harder as they moved up manhattan.

sawyer finished the rest of his bloody mary before signaling the waiter to bring him another. the rule they decided then was one drink per stop, but his drink was so weak there was no way he was going to leave without having a bit more alcohol in him. before audrey could scold him for breaking the rules, sawyer shook his head at her. "don't even say anything. you'd do the same thing if you were basically drinking tomato juice," he told her, grabbing her drink from across the table and taking a sip. he gave it back with a smirk. "so, where next? i was thinking some place a little more...livelier," he asked, already bored of the boring wall street bankers.

when sawyer ordered another drink, audrey let her jaw drop playfully. not only was having a second drink not a part of the rules, she was also a bit shocked at how fast he had drank his bloody mary. "hey!" she yelled at him as he took her drink from the table. "why don't we head north," she suggested, taking his drink as the waiter placed it on the table as revenge for him taking a sip of hers. "this is disgusting," audrey said, pulling a face as she placed his drink back down and traded it for hers. "anyways, it should get livelier as we get to midtown. maybe there's a party going on somewhere, too." audrey finished her drink, and waiting for sawyer's opinion on where-to next, even if she had to physically pull him back onto a subway further into the city and away from brooklyn.
