hi, i’m audrey hunter, and i’m from brooklyn. that basically sums up who i am, because once i say “brooklyn” people usually start to scoff in my face. but whatever. i was born december 1st to my mom and dad, peter and sarah, and they’re the best parents i could of ever asked for. i’ve also got a younger bother, who i refer to as a shithead because he’s too busy keeping the brooklyn stereotype alive. all that aside, i’m really close with my family and it sucks that i don’t get to see them all that often because of school. yes, i know, mcoa isn’t that far away, but you try taking the n train out of brooklyn every day and then tell me how you like it. it’s the exact reason why i rent out a dorm room for the weekdays and try to head home on weekends.
what is the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done?
i don’t know if it counts for the most embarrassing thing ever, but i like to run into the turnstiles at the subways all too often. you’d think that i’d be able to figure out how to work my metro card by now, but nope. at least once a week without fail i manage to run into them, and you think the tall ones would be the worst, but no, it’s the short ones that you like, bend over as you fall into them… and they leave marks.
why mcoa?
i want to be an actress. either on stage or behind camera, i don’t really care, as long as i’m doing what i love. i’m not much of a singer, so unlike many others here at mcoa, i don’t particularly want to be a on broadway, which is another thing that people like to scoff at a lot. it’s not that i can’t sing, it’s just not my cup of tea, and so be it. i also looked at applying to other schools, mainly the tisch school at nyu, but this school just looks so much better on a resume, and it’s a lot more hands on and… i feel like a walking advertisement, but i feel like i’m just constantly learning and trying to achieve more than i ever wanted. and being around people with the same attitude helps too – we all want to be here, and succeed, more than anything.
what do you do when you are bored?
*laughs* i don’t have the time to be bored. with school i’m always go-go-go, but when i do need that time to relax, i usually hop on the n home. it’s a long enough ride that i get time to relax or go over character studies (which i love), or get whatever it is that i need done by the time i get home. and then once home, my mother goes into mother-mode, and makes all these awesome homemade dinners and tries to tell me i can turn my brain off for a few hours though i really can’t afford to. i also like walking around madison park, which is right near the school, or even bryant park. or honestly, i just like to go walk around and just escape the school buildings for however long i can. and, if all else fails, i’ll hit up a drug store and dye my hair. that always kills a few hours.
what’s your style like?
i usually just wear jeans and a shirt (sometimes a summer dress), with flats i really don’t hold my own against all the fashionista’s who live in manhattan and attend mcoa. i rely on my feet to get around; i don’t have the privilege of getting to take daddy’s limo to school. okay, that was mean, but i need my feet to walk around and act, and the point i was trying to make is that i just can’t wear heels for the hell of it and then jump in my car to go across town. but when i need to, i can pull out my best pair of heels and a dress and glam it up.
