alright so i'm emily... or just em is good too. i'm twenty-two years old and i'm originally from florida but i moved to new york when i was eighteen to attend this place. i think it's better that way actually. like a lot of my friends are from manhattan and stuff so at the end of each semester they stay in the city, whereas i get to go back home where it's all sunny and great. honestly people normally come with me and stay for some time because florida's a nice change of scenery. but yeah, i'm about to start my last year here at mcoa and i'm definitely wanting to go out with a bang.
what about your family?
well like i said we're from florida. edgewood if you want to be exact. my dad is an actor and my mom is a couple's therapist. they actually met on the set of one of my dad's films where my mom was being used as a consultant for some stuff. twenty five years later and here we are. i have a brother too. his name is julian and he goes here too. he's nineteen and he's gonna be an amazing dancer when he's finished here. he's a lot more co-ordinated than me. that's not hard though, i'm a total klutz. he's blonde, obviously, and just as crazy as me, even if he doesn't want to admit it.
are you a dog or a cat person?
both. but if i had to choose, then i'd choose dogs, just cause they're more grateful for you doing stuff. like you can feed a cat, and it eats then goes off. whereas a dog eats and then comes back to you and yeah. i don't really know how to explain it. i just like dogs more. but i like most animals. horses are awesome. i have my own horse back at home. i would've brought him with me but the city isn't really a good place for him. his name is poncho and he's an arabian gelding who's flea bitten, which is like grey. he's so lovely and i love going home to see him whenever i can. and my parents too, of course.
do you have a job?
i sing. there's this place not far from where i live here that was looking for someone to sing there regularly, so i auditioned and i got the job. i sing there a couple nights a week on average, although if there's something big happening there might be more, and they know that i'm still at school so if i need some time off they're okay with it. it's owned by this married couple who are kind of like my second parents, or my "new york" parents. they're so lovely and i'm always trying to get my friends to come and watch cause some nights it's open mic night so i figure they should sing too. they're normally some fun nights!
what do you do when you're bored?
i sing... again. although honestly i sing all the time. sometimes i don't even realise i'm doing it and i'll catch myself and it'll just make me laugh. i have a feeling it probably gets on people's nerves, but it's become such a habit now that it just happens. at least i can sing, cause if i couldn't then people would probably tell me to shut up when i do it. if i'm not singing, then sometimes i spend my free time planning parties and such. the kane's have a reputation to maintain here y'know? my dad threw some great parties in his time, and me and julian are wanting to carry on the family name.
